iPhone 3G: Bug or Brick?

I finally got the bug on tape that I experience on my iPhone pretty often. I’ve uploaded it to YouTube. The link is below.

iPhone 3G: Bug or Brick?

Basically this happens:

1. Text Message is received.
2. I attempt to “slide to view” the message.
3. Screen freezes, iPhone becomes unresponsive.
4. Screen turns black.
5. I hold the power button (nothing happens).
6. I hold the home button (nothing happens).
7. iPhone is rendered a useless brick for a few seconds.
8. Then I hold the power and home button for about 5-6 seconds and it finally reboots, but it takes about 30-35 seconds to show the homescreen.

I have experienced this on both 2.0, 2.0.1, and 2.0.2.

Plugging my iPhone into my computer or charger does not fix the problem.
Anyone else experience this?

It just hapened to me about 10 mind ago when I was trying to install a new appstore app. Now I can’t launch and 3rd party apps. I have to restore my phone again. I have to restore my phone 1-2 time a week because of the buggy firmware plus buggy apps. IRRG!

Same thing here… 4 restores in the past week. Also, on mine the videos, songs, podcasts in the iPod app disappear on the phone. Hooked up to iTunes, it shows they’re all there, but on the phone it says “no songs.” Restore is the ONLY option, and tech support is aware… Still within my 30 days signing on with ATT, and I’m thinking of returning the phone! New to Apple products, having been a PC nerd since the late 80’s, I’m definitely not impressed!

IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN TODAY. That makes @least 3 restore in the past 7 days. I hope 2.1 fixes that, I really hope so.

2.1 has been super stable for me. Just FYI! :-)
